It's going quite well for me with not using the tumbler dryer, but we (everyone but me) were ill this weekend and then I did use it. Two steps forward, one step back.
I haven't used a credit card since I wrote my post on 2/7 (yeah, a little late)! Jimmyredhed had to break out his to pay for gas, but it's been good. We're going on a short vacation this weekend. But I hope to remove them from our pockets as soon as we return!
My 'One Small Change' was here. http://oururbanfarmhouse.blogspot.com/2011/02/greening-your-home-credit-cards-and.html
I finally settled on my February change! I had an idea at the beginning of the month, but it took a little time to get it together. So here's my change - reusable tea bags: http://lifeofalittlewoman.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/perfectly-pleasant/
My change has been getting back in our habit of vermicomposting. Our bin filled up and really, we need two bins I think. Since it was so full of scraps the worms hadn't eaten yet, I stopped adding to it. I hated throwing out all those good scraps though. We just recently checked on the worms and they're doing beautifully! We have started keeping our scraps again and feeding them. So, back in the swing of it! :) And hopefully we can start a 2nd one soon.
I had to make an agreement with my BF who had a hard time letting go of the practical side of the microwave oven. It's still in the kitchen, unplugged, up on top of the garde-manger "just in case". Use since February 1st? Zero!
Our Shaklee arrived in the mail. This weekend I'll be getting all the "bad" cleaners packed up and posted to free cycle.
Also trying out another change...no TP #1...not committed yet, but trial is going well.
By the way, there is this book called 'Sleeping Naked is Green' about a woman in Canada who makes one small change a day. Great read. Fun and lighthearted but also full of good and easy ideas. That's where I picked up this #1 idea.
i changed by change. ha ha. the kids have already been recycling more and what's cool, is that when we take our daily walks, the kids have been picking up trash and plastic bottles they see on the grass...they know to recycle the plastic bottles. it seems my focus is still on using less paper towels. i created separate piles for kitchen and bathroom--and the kids have helped with chores this past month too. they have used old hand towels to dust and wipe down cabinets, etc. with our non-toxic cleaner! it's been great. next up is some homemade glass cleaner....and enlist the kids again! they love making allowance and my youngest daughter actually loves to clean..i'm blessed..what can i say! :)

ReplyDeleteI was very sick with the flu and my neti pot was the only thing that really worked to clear my stuffy nose. It's not just for allergies anymore!

ReplyDeleteI swapped to a solid shampoo and honestly, my hair has never looked better, so no going back to bottled shampoo for me!
